{"id":17804,"date":"2023-11-13T09:54:59","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T15:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scz.org\/?p=17804"},"modified":"2023-11-13T09:54:59","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T15:54:59","slug":"ewe-and-me-is-a-wild-learning-experience-for-you-and-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scz.org\/blog\/ewe-and-me-is-a-wild-learning-experience-for-you-and-me","title":{"rendered":"Ewe and Me is a Wild Learning Experience for You and Me"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ewe and Me isn\u2019t just a class with learning opportunities for children; their adults often learn something new as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Often the adult doesn&#8217;t have a lot of information about the animal either, so they learn too,&#8221; Early Education Specialist Patty Rice said. &#8220;It&#8217;s fun to see the parents see how the kids can learn so much about animals just from some of the fun activities we do.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ewe and Me is a class designed to teach children about animals and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each class has a different topic. The class focuses on learning through song and story, as well as through tactile elements. This allows for more activities during the class. In addition to story time and songs, a staple of all Zoo education classes geared towards toddlers, Ewe and Me includes crafts and a trip out into the Zoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Usually, we take a half-hour walk out into the Zoo and go and see either the animal or something related to that animal. I love that we&#8217;re able to go out to the Zoo,&#8221; Rice said. &#8220;It&#8217;s important to come dressed for the weather, and be prepared to go on a walk.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-and-Me_Education_10.19.23.cs-8-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17807\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.6669921875;width:448px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-and-Me_Education_10.19.23.cs-8-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-and-Me_Education_10.19.23.cs-8-400x600.jpg 400w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-and-Me_Education_10.19.23.cs-8-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-and-Me_Education_10.19.23.cs-8-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-and-Me_Education_10.19.23.cs-8-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-and-Me_Education_10.19.23.cs-8.jpg 1365w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>In the Tropics, the class looks for bats<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Ewe and Me has two class times- 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We do offer a morning time or an afternoon time so if they attend half-day preschool, they could choose one or the other,&#8221; Rice said. &#8220;We&#8217;re currently on Thursdays because a lot of times if four-year-olds only go a few days a week it&#8217;s Monday, Wednesday, Friday.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ewe and Me is a class that encourages curiosity in children.
