Various non-profits around Wichita have joined together to offer <a href=\"https:\/\/wichitaonthecheap.com\/?s=tot+tuesday\">Tot Tuesday<\/a>, free educational programs for children aged zero to five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s an effort between the museums here in Wichita to offer some free programming for families,&#8221; Education Specialist for Early Childhood Patty Rice said. &#8220;We wanted to work together and just really offer some fun and free activities for families.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sedgwick County Zoo hosts Tot Tuesday the fourth Tuesday of the month. This thirty-minute class starts at 10:30 a.m. and does not require any registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;When they come to the class, we visit for a little bit, maybe talk about the animals, and then we read a story,&#8221; Rice said. &#8220;And then when the story&#8217;s done, we&#8217;ll bring out some bio facts, or things that come from the animals in that story and show them to the kids.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230926_104108-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230926_104108-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230926_104108-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230926_104108-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230926_104108-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230926_104108-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/scz.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20230926_104108-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Children interact with bio facts<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Children are encouraged to ask questions about the animal they\u2019ve just learned about while interacting with the bio-facts. These bio-facts range from teeth and bones from animals to hair or hides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Then we&#8217;ll have an animal visitor that comes in that they&#8217;re able to observe. Sometimes we&#8217;re allowed to touch, just depends on the animal,&#8221; Rice said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes the class learns about an animal that can\u2019t come visit, so a short field-trip is necessary. Rice says Tot Tuesday has previously visited the flamingos and chimpanzees out in the Zoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each Tot Tuesday class varies. Sometimes there is music and singing, or an activity such as fingerplays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We want learning about animals and the environment to be accessible to all families.
